Pizzeria Stella

Who would have thought that an American-style pizza could take root in Milan? Perhaps because it has a New York soul and fits like a glove in Italy’s trendiest city. To set the scene: a sleek storefront with the look of a modern pizzeria caught between the 1990s and 2026, Manhattan and the Italian boot. The winning formula, in addition to the thin, crispy pizza crust, is a spot at the cutting edge of today’s trends and large “slices” of pizza that are more refined than their American counterparts. On the marble counter, the options range from eggplant, mozzarella, chopped parsley, vinegar, and chili pepper to a tomato base with zucchini, mint mayonnaise, lemon, chimichurri, or mozzarella, artichoke, crispy guanciale, and pecorino. The pesto is swirled in a zigzag pattern, the eggplant slices overlap, and the basil is placed almost with tweezers onto the mozzarella pieces. Note the high-profile collaborations with Jean’s New York and the Parisian smashburger powerhouse Dumbo. You certainly go there dressed to impress, but you’ll have to put in a little effort yourself: dare to get your fingers messy, accept that the tomato sauce and olive oil might drip a bit, and devour your pizza as quickly as a Big Apple businessman. A pizza of both taste and style, in other words.

Coffee Tones. Five cafés, five shades.
These are places that are an integral part of everyday life. Encountered by chance along a path, visited every morning around the corner from home, tried out by word of mouth. We like them noisy or studious, indulgent, intimate, sometimes to be seen there and often to go unnoticed. If we come for the coffee, we sometimes come back for other things. Here is the club of the 5 cafés of the week in the French capital.
