Arlo's

No, you’re not in a trendy café on the Upper East Side, but on rue du Mirail in Bordeaux. With its ultra-modern storefront and interior, this place makes New York-style bagels and takes the concept all the way. The success story began on a trip to the Big Apple, when couple Sacha Rozès and Lisa Germaneau came up with the idea: bring the city’s signature street food to Bordeaux and offer bagels made from scratch. The menu features the classics—cream cheese, scrambled eggs, or tuna and avocado—served in thick, dense, brioche-like bagels. Each month, a new recipe joins the menu. At lunch that day, we went for the Arlo’s, a signature creation that breaks the mold with its satay chicken. Choose a bagel topped with sesame seeds, fried onions or poppy seeds, or keep it plain. A welcome addition to the neighborhood’s lunch scene, whether the sun is shining or not.

Coffee Tones. Five cafés, five shades.
These are places that are an integral part of everyday life. Encountered by chance along a path, visited every morning around the corner from home, tried out by word of mouth. We like them noisy or studious, indulgent, intimate, sometimes to be seen there and often to go unnoticed. If we come for the coffee, we sometimes come back for other things. Here is the club of the 5 cafés of the week in the French capital.
