Mokochaya

The Moko trilogy has been enchanting the 11th arrondissement since 2015. My first is called Mokonuts, my second Mokochaya and my third Locomal (formerly Mokoloco). On today's agenda behind the off-white façade, a large airy room beneath its high ceilings and communal tables. But also another story in three parts: breakfast in the morning, bento at midday and brunch on Saturdays. Mokochaya is especially fascinating for its famous Japanese-style bento boxes. When served, after removing the lid as if it were a Christmas present, take a moment to contemplate the beauty of all those satellites in their lacquered red compartments and dark wooden chest. Then plunge your chopsticks in and multiply the bites and the endless combinations of flavors. Pickles, lacto-fermented vegetables, mild vinegared rice, potato salad enlivened with tarragon, fish, meat or veggie options that are all on the same level. The contents vary every lunchtime, from marinated mackerel to stuffed portobello, including glazed pork tenderloin. For dessert, the stomach is satisfied with flavors but not overloaded. Just enough to devour a labneh and lemon cheesecake, or one of the best cookies in Paris. It's already over and you're already wondering when you'll return.

Coffee Tones. Five cafés, five shades.
These are places that are an integral part of everyday life. Encountered by chance along a path, visited every morning around the corner from home, tried out by word of mouth. We like them noisy or studious, indulgent, intimate, sometimes to be seen there and often to go unnoticed. If we come for the coffee, we sometimes come back for other things. Here is the club of the 5 cafés of the week in the French capital.
